Located in the heart of Amish Country, Paint Township Volunteer Fire Department of Winesburg Ohio in Holmes County, was awarded a much needed Fire Prevention and Safety Grant in the amount of $54, 210 on April 2, 2010. It took 4 years and 4 applications later to get this grant awarded but on April 2, 2010, it all paid off. Paint Township Volunteer Fire Department will be able to distribute CO detectors and Smoke Detectors to homes in their community which are known for utilizing alternative heat sources. This grant will also include funding to purchase educational videos, puppets, handouts and supplies to distribute to the community and help to educate the community on a continuous basis. This grant was awarded under the Fire Prevention and Safety – Public Awareness category of the Grant.
